If we allow the national and international debate to continue about how it was his hoodie that killed Trayvon Martin or how it was her hijab that killed Shaima Alawadi, then we are allowing their deaths to be trivialized. We know exactly why Trayvon Martin was killed. We know exactly why Shaima Alawadi was killed. It wasn’t their clothing.
